"Our role wasn’t just to construct the space - it was to lead and guide the project from the moment of property acquisition to the moment it opened its doors to the public."

Project Overview:

In being engaged to bring to life a high-end Pilates studio in Cobham – a location known for its affluent community, 345 were excited to provide a high-end service for a studio that accommodated clientele including the likes of Abby Clansey, Louise Redknapp and John Terry. Considering this, the expectations for quality, discretion and aesthetic impact were at the forefront throughout.

Working from an architectural brief provided by the client’s own team, we were entrusted to take ownership of the detail design stage, with finishes left open to our interpretation and expertise. This enabled us to bring both creative and practical value to the process, selecting materials, lighting, and features that enhanced the space well beyond the original scope.

Delivered during the challenging Covid-19 period, the project was fast-tracked to ensure the studio could open its doors the moment lockdown restrictions eased — a goal we successfully achieved despite considerable logistical constraints. The result is a polished, luxurious wellness environment that sets the bar in boutique fitness design and continues to be attended by a high-profile clientele.

The Brief:

The client required the transformation of a ground-floor commercial unit into a state-of-the-art Pilates studio — sophisticated in both look and function. The brief called for a calming yet premium interior, complete with a small reception retail space and discrete, clever storage solutions to support day-to-day studio operations.

Our role extended far beyond the construction: we contributed to interior enhancements such as proposing polished plaster wall finishes, designing a raised equipment cupboard system, and suggesting details like LED mirror lighting and edged mirror finishes that elevated the space’s ambiance.

In the reception, we supported the design of the retail display area and visual merchandising, creating a seamless guest journey from entrance to exercise. The project was not a standard design-and-build contract, but rather a collaborative, detail-driven process where finishes, layouts, and enhancements were agreed directly with the client.

Outcome:

The working relationship with the client was second to none — deeply collaborative, respectful, and highly engaged — and continues to this day. This project is a testament to what can be achieved when design vision, quality execution, and trusted relationships come together.
