“The apartments now provide safe, resilient homes that feel domestic in character and are easy to maintain.”

Duration & Size:

7 weeks – 700 sqft

Investment

£140k

Project Overview:

Following the earlier conversion of Flat 3, we returned to Liberty Court to deliver a second apartment transformation—this time with an optimised programme and proactive design strategy. Flat 6 was reconfigured into two self-contained, one-bedroom supported living homes, each with a private wetroom and open-plan kitchen/living space. The focus remained on creating calm, comfortable environments that promote independence and dignity, while meeting robust healthcare and building standards.

The Brief:

Active Care Group’s goal was to replicate the successful approach of Flat 3, but with greater efficiency. Having already navigated regulatory updates—including the need for a sprinkler system—we were able to integrate this requirement from the outset. This allowed us to reduce the construction period and avoid mid-project redesigns, ultimately saving the client both time and cost.

Design decisions prioritised simplicity and comfort: neutral tones, soft lighting, and straightforward layouts that support ease of movement and day-to-day living. All materials were selected for durability and low maintenance, particularly in high-use wet areas. With careful coordination of trades and services, we delivered a seamless installation with minimal disruption to the wider site.

Outcome:

Flat 6 was completed in just seven weeks, with the budget held at £140k. The apartments now provide safe, resilient homes that feel domestic in character and are easy to maintain. This project demonstrated how preparation and early integration of compliance measures—such as sprinklers—can significantly streamline delivery. Liberty Court Flat 6 now stands as a refined, efficient example of supported-living design tailored to real-world care settings.
